The Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) Partnership

The Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) Partnership is a multi-stakeholder initiative that seeks to improve the environmental sustainability of the livestock sector through better methods, metrics, and data. Launched in July 2012, LEAP presents the third phase of this coordinated global initiative: LEAP3, which aims to contribute to consolidate the current guidance through road testing and dissemination of LEAP guidelines. In the past years, the LEAP Partnership has enabled a high level of methodological consensus on how to quantify GHG emissions and other environmental impacts from livestock supply chains. It has, amongst others, allowed for a number of quantitative assessments and for technical and policy options to be proposed in order to mitigate the livestock contribution to climate change.
